Blue Cow Theatre Inc, Hobart’s artist driven theatre company wants to know:
Where is YOUR play?
A) bottom drawer of the desk;
B) under the mattress;
C) on a floppy disc…somewhere;
D) in my head, waiting to be released;
E) in the COWSHED.
If you chose E, you’re on the right track.
Blue Cow invites established playwrights, mid career playwrights, emerging playwrights and wannabes, (this means you) to apply to join the Cowshed, Blue Cow Theatre Inc.’s playwright development program.
That’s right, the folks at Blue Cow have teamed up with one of Australia’s leading dramaturges, Peter Matheson, to help you whip that play into shape. We’ve got 12 spaces in the Cowshed for 2014, and that unfolds throughout the year:
It’s the Full Cream approach to hone you writing chops you won’t want to miss,
So here’s the skinny.
Who? – Yourself, other Tasmanian writers, and Peter Matheson – wow! Check out his qualifications here.
What? – An orientation weekend; three weekends of face-to-face meetings and group workshops; two phone conferences; a final sharing and assorted casual catch ups throughout the year.
What else? – A lot of work from you! You’ll be writing and re-writing throughout the year and meeting deadlines agreed upon between you and Peter. Don’t be scared, you’ll love it.
And What Else? – Opportunities to work with other playwrights; bounce ideas off each other; talk shop; read each other’s work and plays from around the world; and have a blast.
When? – Throughout 2014. The Orientation is 22 – 23 February. Full list of dates below.
Where? – Based here in Hobart, but ALL are welcome.
Why? – Blue Cow Theatre is committed to Tasmanian artists and helping them to develop their stories. Blue Cow has produced two new works by Tasmanian writers over its 3 years. We want to cultivate new voices and new work so we can present a piece that has been developed in the Cowshed by 2017.
How (much)? – All this can be yours for $360 including GST.
